New Student: I am a new applicant to the Great Smokies Writing Program and have never previously enrolled in this program.

Returning Student: You have taken a Great Smokies Writing Program course(s) previously and are applying to return after time away (have not taken a Great Smokies Writing Program course in the most recent spring or summer terms).

Continuing Student: You are or were enrolled in a Great Smokies Writing Program Course in the most recent term and are applying to continue next term.

For example, you would be considered a "Continuing" student if:

You were enrolled most recently for a summer term and are returning for the immediately following Fall term.
If you were not enrolled for a summer term but were enrolled for the most recent Spring term, and are returning for the immediately following Fall term.

Current UNCA Student: If you are a current UNC Asheville degree-seeking student (undergraduate or post-bacc) and you would like to take a class with the Great Smokies Writing Program, please email Lilly Danzis at ldanzis@unca.edu. Additionally, take note of the following policies:

Students must have successfully completed LANG 260 or an equivalent course.
Students must have the approval of the Program Coordinator and/or at least one recommendation from an English faculty member.
Students may not take more than one GSWP course per term.
Credit hours earned will count towards your elective credits.
Credit hours earned do not count towards English major/minor requirements.
Your grade for the course will count towards your GPA.
Students may register one week before the first class session of the course they want to attend.
Students receiving financial aid must consult with the Office of Financial Aid before registering for GSWP classes.
